Could Phil Collins actually be the incarnation of God on earth?
A new statue of baby Jesus in Mexico is certainly raising the question.
Nearly 22ft tall and weighing 143 stone (907kg), the statue stands in a church in the central Mexican state of Zacatecas.
Following a report in the New York Post, it is now garnering a fair bit of attention on social media over its uncanny likeness to 1980s-era Collins, when his band Genesis were at the height of their fame – and when he sported a similar angelic hair tuft.
“Put some drums in front of it & it would be uncanny!” one Twitter user wrote.

“I actually snorted tea out of my nose laughing at this,” said another, while another wrote: “The end is nigh. Truly.”
It is not the first statue to make headlines for its unusual appearance.
In 2018, a now infamous bust of Cristiano Ronaldo was replaced in Portugal after being ridiculed for its resemblance to Sloth from The Goonies and The Head from Art Attack.
A bust of fellow footballer Mohamed Salah in Egypt was also widely mocked last year.
And it is not just statues, with celebrity waxworks often getting it wrong, too.
Earlier this year, Game Of Thrones fans were quick to point out that a tribute to Emilia Clarke’s character Daenerys Targaryen in Dublin wasn’t exactly a spitting image.
Beyonce, Adele and Victoria Beckham have also fallen victim to bad wax lookalikes.
However, against all odds, could the Mexican Jesus statue be different?
Genesis were named after the first book of the Bible, after all – and with hits including Invisible Touch, No Son Of Mine and Jesus He Knows Me, maybe the band were trying to tell us something all along.
