Sir Andy Murray will team up with Serena Williams for mixed doubles at Wimbledon.
Murray’s management team confirmed the news on Tuesday evening after the pair had teased fans with the possibility.
Murray, 32, is playing alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the men’s doubles but had been in need of a partner for the mixed competition, which starts on Friday.
He has won two Wimbledon singles titles and is returning to full fitness after career-saving hip surgery in January.
Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, had raised the possibility of a collaboration during the weekend, saying she was “available” after Murray revealed he was looking for a female tennis partner.
The Scot had responded to Williams in typically dry fashion, saying she would be a “pretty solid partner”.
“Obviously she’s arguably the best player ever,” he added.
But she showed no early signs of the injury as she beat Giulia Gatto-Monticone in straight sets on Tuesday, strengthening speculation that she would accept Murray’s offer.
Williams has won 16 Grand Slam doubles titles, including the 1998 mixed at Wimbledon with Max Mirnyi.
