Cruz Roja (the Spanish Red Cross) has reported that it has received a total of 1573 applications for the 80 positions it has available in its lifeguard services.
The positions cover the beaches of Guardamar del Segura, Santa Pola, Dénia and Xàbia. There are various positions available including lifeguards, boat handlers, and medical staff.
More than 650 people have been selected to take part in the selection process, which involves a range of physical and mental tests.
These selection tests will be held tomorrow (Friday 10th May) at Guardamar and on Saturday 11th May at Dénia and are for lifeguard positions who have already passed the first stage of the application process.
Successful application will be working on these beaches throughout the coming summer months.
