Crisp lovers will soon be able to buy an alcoholic drink which tastes like Doritos.
The American brand says the flavour of its Nacho Cheese crisps will be turned into a spirit.
It promises the drink will “smell and taste just like the real thing”, thanks to a partnership with drinks company Empirical.
The spirit will offer customers “iconic Nacho Cheese flavour in a bottle”, Doritos said on Tuesday.
The limited-release 42% alcohol will be made by using real crisps and extracting their “essence through vacuum distillation”, a process that operates at lower temperatures in order to “preserve the flavours”, the two companies said.
Not falling into the traditional categories of gin or whiskey, the companies added the new drink will be best enjoyed in a Margarita, Bloody Mary, Old Fashioned or neat or over ice.
The Doritos brand is owned by PepsiCo subsidiary Frito-Lay Inc, which also produces recognisable American crisp brands such as Lays, Cheetos and Sun Chips.
“Doritos is all about disrupting culture and bringing our fans unexpected, bold experiences,” Tina Mahal, senior vice president of marketing for Frito-Lay North America, said.
She added: “We’re always pushing our fans to try new things, so we figure it’s time we disrupt the spirits category by offering our iconic Nacho Cheese flavour in a bottle.”

In the 1980s, Frito-Lay acquired the British snack manufacturer Walkers, explaining why some of the snacks in the two countries are extremely similar or the same. For example: Lays/Walkers and Sun Chips/Sun Bites.
The US Nacho Cheese flavour of Doritos is the equivalent of Tangy Cheese Doritos in the UK.
Customers can already pre-order the new alcoholic drink, and it will be on shelves in select New York and California markets next month, for an estimated price of $65 (£51).
