A man has been jailed for six years after biting another man’s thumb off in a “movie-style bar brawl” in a small town pub.
Jack Goldstraw, 31, charged at the victim with a chair above his head after an exchange of words at the Pig and Falcon in New Street, St Neots, at about 11pm on 16 September last year.
The fight between Goldstraw, the victim in his 30s and two other men escalated to the point the pub landlord described it as a “classic movie style bar brawl”.
The victim’s left thumb was bitten on the joint as he attempted to pull the attacker off a friend.
The thumb was discovered on the floor of the smoking area after the fight had been broken up.

Despite being placed on ice, doctors were unable to reattach it.
Goldstraw, of High Street, Kimbolton, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent at trial and sentenced to six years in prison at Cambridge Crown Court on Friday.
Cambridgeshire Police’s DC John Whitworth said: “This was a vicious and gruesome act of violence, which has left the victim needing continuing treatment.
“I’m glad we have managed to get justice for the victim and I hope this encourages people to think twice before getting embroiled in alcohol-fuelled brawls.”
St Neots is described on the Cambridge tourism website as “a charming and historical market town”.
