Summer Car Warning

Firefighters from Torrevieja were called to urgently intervene after a baby was locked inside a car at a commercial centre on the Orihuela Costa.
The girl, who was just under a year old, was locked inside the car after the driver had got out of the vehicle but left the keys inside and the car´s automatic system locked the doors.
Rescuers had to break one of the windows of the car in order to gain access and rescue the child from inside.
On this occasion, there was only damage to the vehicle caused by the window breakage, but the incident serves as a timely reminder of the continual summer message that now has to be expanded.
Children and animals should never be left in a vehicle, especially during the summer, as the intense heat is amplified inside. The phrase, “Children and Dogs Die in Hot Cars”, might be a reminder, but sometimes, with modern technology attempting to keep us safe, the cars themselves can add to the problem, as was the case this week.
Remember to remove the keys from the ignition and keep them with you at all times.
